“It’s Your Challenge, But I Don’t Hear You Wanting to Do Something About It” (Bloomingdale Township Nonprofit Leaders Forum – June 2026)

"It's your challenge, but I don't hear you wanting to do something about it." That kind of honesty happens in a group that has built real trust, and it's exactly what showed up at our Nonprofit Leaders Forum, where mid-level nonprofit leaders serving Bloomingdale Township residents come together for peer support, skill building, and cross-agency connection. A Partner Consultation surfaced a challenge so many of us know well: the difficulty of truly stepping away from work, even when your own team is encouraging you to rest. The group didn't let it slide. They named how skipping time off models overwork for a team, and sent the partner home with a real plan: book a day off, set quiet hours after work, and find an accountability partner to check back in.

In a Partnership Expansion Lab, agencies pitched specific needs to the group, and partners responded with concrete offers. One agency is looking for someone to work directly with students during the day, and partners surfaced an MOU-based staff placement from another agency. Another wants to build a mentorship program for new staff, and partners offered to share supervisor-drafted onboarding materials. Another is navigating a rocky software transition, and partners recommended building a champion network around the new system. The exercise was a reminder that this group's biggest asset isn't just encouragement; it's the connections, expertise, and resources partners can offer each other directly.

Two agencies shared their profiles with the cohort: Teen Parent Connection (https://teenparentconnection.org) supports young parents ages 12 to 22 with home visiting, parenting education, and case management, and is currently looking for Spanish-speaking therapists. Alive Center NFP (https://alivecenter.org) offers free after-school programming and mentorship for 5th through 12th graders across three locations, and is always looking for volunteers and in-kind donations of sports equipment and snacks.
