What Happens When HR Is Slow and the Manager Is Stuck? (Schaumburg Nonprofit Leaders Forum, June 2026)

"It is not my responsibility to carry their feelings."

There is a difference between supporting your team and absorbing what belongs to them. Finding that line is a challenge in any management position, and understanding it does not make it easier to hold.

This professional development intentionality carried into Nonprofit Leaders Forum, supporting Schaumburg Township-funded agencies. (www.goodworksresults.com/nonprofitforum)

Two partner consultations brought live challenges to the center. One partner is a year into a peer-to-manager transition, still working out what it means to hold authority while staying relational. A second consultation centered on a team conflict that HR has been inside for weeks without resolution.

The Harbour (https://theharbour.org), this session's Agency Profile, shared their emergency and transitional housing programs for female youth. Partners left with new referral pathways and a stronger foundation for the cross-agency connections this cohort is building.

Thank you to WINGS Program (https://wingsprogram.com) for hosting. The intentional spaces, the artwork on every wall, the sense that every detail was purposeful: it is a space that reflects who WINGS Program is.

This forum, in partnership with Good Works Results LLC (https://www.goodworksresults.com), reinforces the vital role of peer support in building stronger nonprofit leadership.
