There is a kind of progress that shows up when the same people keep coming back together. We bring real problems, we work them out loud, and we return to find out what actually moved. That is what the Bloomingdale Township Nonprofit Leaders Forum is for, a place where mid-level nonprofit leaders work on live challenges together.
We met at the DuPagePads Interim Housing Center. Most of us had not been to this site before. Walking the space, we saw all it takes to move one client toward stable housing, most of it invisible from outside. Inspiring!
Two partners put live challenges to the group, one on building transparency and accountability into a team with a long history, one on handing off a role to the person hired to take it over. Neither received a task list back. They got questions, and an honest read from people who understand the work. Both said what mattered most was not the advice. It was having a group behind them.
Because we keep coming back, we get to see what moved. New people hired. Plans written. Boundaries that used to be intentions now named out loud as wins. Worth stopping to celebrate.
