Rappelling down 12 floors on behalf of DuPagePads (https://www.dupagepads.org), one partner from a completely different agency did this because the commitment in this cohort does not stay in the room. That energy carried into Nonprofit Leaders Forum #3, supporting Bloomingdale Township-funded agencies. Learn more at www.goodworksresults.com/nonprofitforum.
The Difficult Conversations Skills Lab opened the session by giving partners a concrete structure to plan the one conversation they have been putting off. Working in pairs, partners named the challenge, identified the real cost of not acting, and left with a first move. The format worked because the outside perspective is exactly what this room can offer.
A partner consultation on organizational advocacy turned into a room-wide lesson in how to communicate with the person you are trying to move, not just the position you want to take.
We learned more about these agencies: DuPagePads (https://www.dupagepads.org) shelters over 300 people every night, an organization that treats every guest as a neighbor. ICNA Relief USA (https://icnarelief.org) serves thousands of neighbors at their food pantry each year, offering client choice shopping so guests leave with what their families actually need, and they are fighting to keep fresh produce part of that promise, even as resources grow harder to come by.
Thank you to DuPage Health Coalition (https://dupagehealth.org) for a warm and welcoming space that reflected how this organization takes care of its people.
This forum, in partnership with Good Works Results LLC (https://www.goodworksresults.com), reinforces the vital role of peer support and collective problem solving in building a stronger nonprofit sector in DuPage County.
