“We are helpers, and we do not give up.”

This call to stay in the action emerged during our October session of the Nonprofit Leaders Forum (Bloomingdale Township serving agencies), capturing the spirit in the room.

But what does it mean to be a helper when you’re managing 13 clinicians with pressure from above and below?

What does it mean to be a helper when your interns and volunteers aren’t showing up as expected and you’re unsure whether to be stricter or more flexible?

What does it mean to be a helper when you feel like you’re constantly putting out fires instead of leading?

These were the real challenges tackled at our forum. Partners left with strategies for setting clear expectations, adapting supervision styles for diverse teams, and cutting through the noise to focus on what needs to get done.

ICNA Relief USA reminded us of the power of grassroots, on-the-ground work and the critical need to tell the story of what’s actually happening in our communities. DuPage Health Coalition shared their “all hands on deck” approach during upcoming open enrollment.  DuPage County Health Department showcased their comprehensive services from behavioral health to health insurance navigation, and kindly hosted us in their boardroom overlooking the county campus.

This forum, in partnership with Good Works Results LLC, reinforces the vital role of peer support and collaborative problem-solving in building stronger nonprofit leadership and better serving our communities.

Proud to collaborate with these dedicated organizations: Advocate for 708, Alive Center NFP, ABC Counseling, Bloomingdale Township Youth Service Bureau, DuPage Health Coalition, DuPage County Health Department, ICNA Relief USA, NAMI DuPage, Northeast DuPage Family & Youth Services Inc., Ray Graham Association, Serenity House Counseling Services, Inc., and YWCA Metropolitan Chicago.
