Translating Overwhelmed into Action: Nonprofit Leaders Forum (Hanover Township)

How do you translate “we’re overwhelmed” into concrete numbers that leadership will act on? How do you build the business case for resources when you’re caught between proving need and protecting capacity?

Eleven partner agencies serving Hanover Township residents tackled these questions at our Nonprofit Leaders Forum, hosted by Family Service Association of Greater Elgin.

Two consultations anchored the session. One partner presented case management operating as a revolving door without measurable outcomes. Another shared the catch 22 of running a program with a 3 to 6 month waitlist and only 1.5 staff members, caught in the position of needing data to prove the need for help.

The forum’s collective wisdom delivered practical strategies: implement outcome-driven frameworks like Erikson’s F.A.N., track waitlists meticulously and translate those numbers into compelling narratives, and connect program expansion to agency-wide sustainability.

The impact is already visible: Four partners have established new interagency connections since our first session, strengthening collaboration and resource sharing.

This forum, in partnership with Good Works Results LLC, proves that when we invest in peer learning and create space for honest dialogue, we don’t just help individual leaders—we strengthen the entire network serving our community’s most vulnerable residents.  Learn more @ www.goodworksresults.com/nonprofitforum
