A powerful distinction emerged at the inaugural cohort of our newest Nonprofit Leaders Forum for agencies serving Hanover Township residents: the difference between capability and capacity. Understanding what can be done versus what should be done.

How do you protect capacity for building a new program when you’re pulled into administrative tasks and staff needs? How do you manage three grants when you only have bandwidth for two? How do you support new case managers worried about burnout while maintaining your own well-being?

These were the real challenges tackled at our first forum. Most partners didn’t know each other before this meeting, yet within hours, they were offering to be resources for one another, sharing strategies for delegation, time management, and using personality profile tools to improve team communication.

Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley showcased their comprehensive developmental services with notably short wait times and special funding for Hanover Township residents. Partners identified critical resource gaps—from affordable housing to workforce development programs—and shared valuable connections including Centro De Informacion’s medicaid application support and AID’s case manager services available to Elgin residents.

Thank you to The Gretchen S. Vapnar Community Crisis Center for hosting in their accessible facility with its clothes closet, 24/7 crisis line, and comprehensive services maximizing efficiency under one roof.

This forum, in partnership with Good Works Results LLC, reinforces the vital role of peer support and collaborative problem-solving in building stronger nonprofit leadership and better serving our communities. (Learn more: www.goodworksresults.com/nonprofitforum)
